A meaty out-of-print early-'70s Brunswick Records compilation that features two winners each from Tyrone Davis, Jackie Wilson, the Chi-lites, Young-Holt Trio, Barbara Acklin, the Artistics, Lost Generation, and Little Richard. Richard's "Baby Don't Tear My Clothes" and "Try Some of Mine" are super soulful; Richard could sing when he wasn't screaming. And while the least familiar, Richard's tracks hold their own with solid hits by the Lost Generation ("Sly, Slick And Wicked"), the Artistics ("I'm Gonna Miss You"), Jackie Wilson ("Lonely Teardrops"), the Young-Holt Trio ("Soulful Strut"), Barbara Acklin ("Love Makes a Woman"), the Chi-lites ("Have You Seen Her"), and Tyrone Davis ("Can I Change My Mind"). Worth looking for at Goodwill stores and yard sales because you won't find these exact 16 songs on any other Brunswick compilation.
