AllMusic Review by

From the title British Invasion, one would assume that this two-disc compilation encapsulates the mid-'60s phenomenon spearheaded by the Beatles, wherein many British pop bands achieved chart-topping success in the United States. The assumption would be wrong. British Invasion is a loosely chronological grab bag of British pop tunes. The "invasion" in question seems to be what some people refer to as the "Second British Invasion" of the '80s. This included such bands as the Fixx, more notably Duran Duran, and much less notably Kajagoogoo, all of whom have songs included here. Some may have been hits, such as Kim Wilde's "Kids in America," but also included are the Stone Roses' practically forgotten early-'90s ballad "I Wanna Be Adored" and Sinead O'Connor's sanguine recording "Put Your Hands on Me."
