One of several budget compilations simultaneously rolled out in early 2010 by the Harmless-affiliated Backbeats label, Boogie's Gonna Getcha focuses on the electronics-enhanced post-disco R&B that came out of New York City during the early '80s. With the abundance of like-themed sets that surfaced during the early 2000s -- such as the PTG label's Masterpiece, Nighttime Lovers, and Disco Giants series, as well as the two-volume New York Sound comps -- Backbeats digs a little deeper, but not so deep that even the keenest collectors lose interest. The highlights here include Rhyze's "Just How Sweet Is Your Love," Vicky D's "This Beat Is Mine," and Shot's "Main Thing." Some of these cuts did get enough exposure to reach Billboard's U.S. club chart.
