AllMusic Review by

U.K. magazine Blues & Soul has featured an annual year-end poll for its readers' favorite singles, and this is Volume 10 of that 12-disc series. The entire set makes for a fascinating popular history of modern R&B, with the first volume starting in 1966. This installment leads off with the huge funk of Cameo's "Word Up," and features the delightfully sarcastic "Ain't Nothing Going on But the Rent" by Gwen Guthrie, and the orchestrated pop funk of "I Want Her," by Keith Sweat.
