Tucson, Arizona-based one-man-band Digital Leather recalls the menacing digital sounds of New Wave acts such as Fad Gadget and the Normal, as well as seminal synthpunk band the Screamers. The pulsing electronics and over-arching themes of deviant sexuality evoke poorly lit dance floors, sweat, and, of course, leather. There's a certain retro-novelty element, not to mention a sense of humor (see "Studs in Love"), to BLOW MACHINE that takes the edge off the album's darker aspects.
