Former Angry Samoans guitarist Gregg Turner's Blood Drained Cows project is a bit different from the raging hardcore of the band that he made his name with. Their eponymous debut album is full of punk attitude, to be sure, but the style owes more to Nuggets than to Black Flag -- it's full-fledged garage psychedelia of the lean, muscular Thirteenth Floor Elevators variety (their "You're Gonna Miss Me" opens the record, in fact). It's kind of trashy, and very retro, and played with obvious enthusiasm for the style, as well as a more modern punk sensibility that keeps it from being simply a genre exercise.
