The debut Nettwerk-issued long-player from Brooklyn, New York's kings of "tropical grit pop" offers up a heady mix of highly danceable, lightly experimental retro-'80s pop and shimmering electro-rock that blends the expansive chillwave stylings of Washed Out with the relentlessly melodious pulse of Passion Pit and Imagine Dragons. Josh Ocean (vocals, bass, synths) and Eric Mendelsohn (guitars, synths, sampler) live up to the promise of their R.L. Stine's Goosebumps-inspired moniker with an upbeat, glitch-kissed, 12-track set with highlights arriving via the propulsive shimmy of "On My Side," "Miracle," "Too Young," and "Close Enough."
