Fortunately, the title of vocalist/pianist Marsha Frazier's recent disc isn't reinforced by the performances. There's nothing detached, bored, or workmanlike about the way she sings and plays on the eight tunes, especially her renditions of Miles Davis' "All Blues" and John Coltrane's "Moment's Notice." Frazier doesn't take instrumental honors; those go to saxophonist Joe Ford, who adds some spice and zest throughout, as does tenor saxophonist Lance Bryant in his solo periods. The menu also includes Ellington, Clifford Jordan, and Magic Slim songs (although his first initial was P, not T).
