AllMusic Review by

This CD contains a cross section of Louis Prima's big-band recordings of the mid-'40s. While Prima had a fine orchetra (which featured some vocals from Lily Ann Carol), the leader was essentially the whole show. A masterful entertainer who became popular during the swing era, Prima sang well and also played fine New Orleans trumpet. Not all of his humor has dated well but most of the 20 selections on this fine CD still can communicate to today's listeners. High points include "Robin Hood," "Angelina," "Brooklyn Boogie," and "Chinatown, My Chinatown." This is one of the few Prima swing-era CDs available.
