Madacy's Best of the 80's is an enjoyable, if somewhat scattered, collection of new wave, hard rock and pop/rock singles. Even though the album doesn't feature too many quintessential songs from the '80s, it still has enough entertaining and well-known songs, including Toto's "Rosanna," the Romantics' "What I Like About You," and the Hooters' "And We Danced" to make it worthwhile. Tracks like Blondie's "The Tide Is High," Modern English's "Melt With You," and 'Til Tuesday's "Voices Carry" give the collection a new wave vibe that is broken by the poor sequencing of hard rock and album-oriented rock tracks such as Boston's "We're Ready," Alice Cooper's "Poison," and Loverboy's "Turn Me Loose." Nevertheless, Best of the 80's is a fun compilation; even if it doesn't live up to its name, it's not the worst-'80s collection out there.
