Geffen's 2014 Best of Meat Loaf is an economical collection with some noticeable gaps. Containing just 11 songs, it ought to focus on the, well, meat of his career. But, while several of his best-known tunes like "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" and the Rocky Horror classic "Hot Patootie - Bless My Soul" are represented, absent are essentials like "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" and "Paradise by the Dashboard Light," among others. There are great songs here for sure, but a more representative title would be Best of Our Available Meat Loaf Licensing Catalog.
