The Backwood Boys showcase their buck-wild style of exuberant rap on The Backwood Project, proving that country boys can keep it real in the rap game. The quartet comes from rural Georgia and share many of the attributes so often associated with fellow Georgia artists like Lil' Jon & the Eastside Boys and Goodie Mob. In addition, the group resembles thug rappers like Three 6 Mafia and Trick Daddy. This album may suffer from a low budget, but it's an impressive testament to both the group's abilities and their ambition. Plus, The Backwood Project is somewhat of a witty parody of the popular horror film The Blair Witch Project, playfully commenting on the group's backwoods roots.
