AllMusic Review by

The "Soul" volume of K-Tel's Back to the '60s series, like all the other volumes, is based on inferior re-recordings of hits that were released during the decade in question. As with the other volumes in the series, it's a cheap way to obtain a lot of music, but you're going to get what you pay for. Some of the tracks on this disc include Barbara Lewis' "Make Me Your Baby," Solomon Burke's "Got to Get You off My Mind," Percy Sledge's "When a Man Loves a Woman," Ben E. King's "Stand by Me," and Jerry Butler's "Only the Strong Survive." Lewis' track is the one and only original on the disc.
