From Bobby Darin's bathroom hijinks to England Dan & John Ford Coley's Malibu Rum-lathered balladry, this Atlantic pop-hits roundup resuscitates the songs that were branded on youthful ears via millions of car radios. And while the label might be best regarded for their milestone R&B recordings from the '40s-'60s, this 20-track set shows that house producers Jerry Wexler and the Ertugen brothers knew what the youth from both sides of town wanted to shimmy to. Such omnipresent cultural artifacts as the Rascals' "Good Lovin'" and Stephen Stills' "Love the One You're With" still ring with freshness, while '70s blips like Blue Image's "Ride Captain Ride" and Hot's "Angel in Your Arms" provide some difficult listening of the pleasant variety. A late-nite treat for all those tongue-in-cheek revelers.
