Putte Wickman has since the 1950s been one of the top clarinetists in the world but. because he rarely comes to the United States (being based in his native Sweden), he tends to be overlooked. For Wickman the music on this LP is a bit conservative with ten swing-era standards plus Bernie Senensky's "Another Gift," but he plays quite well. Accompanied by pianist Claes Crona, bassist Ove Stenberg and drummer Nils-Erik Slorner, Wickman sounds in fine form on such tunes as "Love for Sale," "How High the Moon," "You Stepped out of a Dream" and even the old Dixieland warhorse "Royal Garden Blues."
