AllMusic Review by

Here is a weird assortment of non-mainstream music from Warner Australia's vaults, spanning four decades, seemingly sequenced with more care than the average compilation. Three discs in duration, the set takes on a number of shapes, rolling through proto-punk, new wave, grunge, adult alternative rock, and even U.K. garage. Highlights: the Stooges' "Loose," Television's "See No Evil," the Gun Club's "Sex Beat," the Jesus and Mary Chain's "Just Like Honey," the Streets' "Don't Mug Yourself," the Melvins' "Honey Bucket." Magic Dirt, an Australian band that never got the right amount of recognition elsewhere, is represented twice. Regardless of your location, it's a good way to pick up a lot of alternative music in one shot -- especially if you're just discovering music you don't see on television or hear on the radio.
