A very interesting release from Marcella Detroit. Following the release of Feeler, Detroit seemed to go underground, remaining in contact with her fans through her website (which is where this CD was initially sold). The songs were recorded between her debut solo CD, Jewel, and the very different, more aggressive Feeler, and in a sense act almost as a bridge between the two. For the most part, these songs were written for and performed in the British comedy series Absolutely Fabulous. The songs themselves are quite good, and it is fortunate that Detroit was able to assemble this collection rather than consigning the tunes to various video releases. The CD is a nice combination of rock (check out "Something") and very definite pop sounds. In fact, one can hear a great deal of '60s pop ("Today's My Day" is a good example). Detroit also turns in some great vocal moments, and has written some bright, witty lyrics to accompany the music. The major complaint with this CD is packaging; information regarding the songs is nonexistent, and it seems assembled in a hurry. Also, it's a shame the CD is so short, as it is very enjoyable. Marcella Detroit is a very talented artist, and this CD offers a great deal of evidence to support that claim. Given that the CD is so short, two versions of the wonderful "Today's My Day" are not necessary, no matter how good the song sounds. Nevertheless, the CD has wide appeal and fans will find this an essential purchase.
