This Tribute to ABBA features the work of Minnesota-based singer/songwriter Pamela McNeill. She sings and plays most of the instruments throughout, and runs through a solid, enjoyable set of ABBA favorites. "SOS," "Waterloo," and "Fernando" are definite highlights. McNeill has an easy warmth to her voice that's immediately inviting, and her decision to give the songs' arrangements a literate adult alternative bent saves the project from the kitschier side of ABBA's work. Her version of "Dancing Queen" is probably the strongest thing here -- with its plaintive piano tones and soft electronic programming, it sits comfortably next to anything by Sarah McLachlan.
