AllMusic Review by

Carl Perkins was one of the first great guitar heroes of rockabilly, helping to kick start the rock & roll revolution of the 1950s with early hits such as "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Honey Don't" and inspiring a generation of guitarists on both sides of the Atlantic. Carl Perkins and Friends: A Rockabilly Session is a home video edition of a 1986 television special that features Perkins tearing it up with a number of his biggest and best-known fans, including George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Dave Edmunds, Roseanne Cash, Slim Jim Phantom, and Lee Rocker. Perkins and his friends perform 18 songs, including "Matchbox," "Boppin' the Blues," "Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby," "Night Train to Memphis," and "Gone Gone Gone."
