Did 2001 really need another girl group? If it offered audiences something different, then the answer would be a desperate and resounding yes. Unfortunately, the Orlando-based trio 3rd Faze painfully sound like the rest of the crop of girl teen queens -- Britney Spears, 3LW, Jessica Simpson -- or a watered-down Wild Orchid. The girls' self-titled debut succeeds in achieving a pop/dance-pop sound (however, the music shamelessly mimics Destiny's Child-style arrangements), but it is hackneyed beyond words. The market at the time was over-saturated with this stuff, which is unfortunate for the girls of 3rd Faze, as they have good voices. But, at this point, they are destined to get lost in an already-filled pool where listeners are unfazed.
