Columbia University has hosted weekly folk concerts in the basement of St. Paul's Chapel for 30 years. The space is intimate and, in fact, has no amplification. Producer David Seitz brought in some great equipment and recorded three nights of current postcrypt performers in the space with a typical audience. On this CD, we hear live versions of Buddy Mondlock's "My Aunt Anna," Ansel Mathews's moving "Hallejulia," Richard Shindell's "Fishing" as well as other songs by contemporary songwriters Ellis Paul, Richard Meyer, Cliff Eberhardt, Dar Williams and Vicky Pratt Keating. The album provides a good contemporary overview of what the postcrypt has offered for 30 years.
