Railroad Jerk's combination of Beck-ish samples, hip-hop beats, and country twang combine on the folk rocker "Old McNeil." But Railroad Jerk takes it easy, and the result is more like the simple catchiness of a Cake song than the sonic layering and genre collage of anything off of Odelay. "Only One Thing"'s up-tempo backbeat and guitar interjections seem easily forgettable until the band finally breaks into a grooving melody. This record has its golden moments for sure, but they may turn gray in your memories.
