AllMusic Review by

Much weaker than Volume 1 in this series, primary because the bulk of the Seventies tracks by Charlene, Tom Clay, Preston & Syreeta, et al pale next to the stellar Sixties ones. Even so, there are such memorable moments as "Every Little Bit Hurts" by Brenda Holloway, "I Guess I'll Always Love You" by the Isley Brothers, "Function at the Junction" by Shorty Long, the Velvelettes' "Lonely, Lonely Girl Am I" and Barrett Strong's ground-breaking "Money (That's What I Want)," which makes this a necessity in any well-rounded collection.
