The lost part of Prima's lengthy career involves the big-band sides he made for the Varsity, Hit, and Majestic labels between 1941 and 1947. These are also the first sides with Keely Smith in the fold (albeit as a straight big-band singer). These three airchecks catch Prima in his big-band mode, with plenty of early Italian novelties and many of the tunes that would stay in his repertoire for the rest of his career. The transfers are pretty decent and all the material is sanctioned by the Prima estate, making this another important chunk of the man's history finally coming to light.
