#1 R&B Hits: 1960-1964, released by a label called GNP-Crescendo, is an extremely brief compilation -- it clocks in just short of half-an-hour, meaning that there are roughly 50 minutes of dead space that could've been used -- with only ten selections. Nonetheless, if you happen to need a few of the songs here and are on a tight budget, you're in luck. And, despite the looks of the package, the disc contains the original versions, as opposed to the re-recordings and poor-quality live recordings that make up so many budget-line compilations. Some of the featured tracks include the Dixie Cups' "Chapel of Love," Jerry Butler's "He Will Break Your Heart," and Barbara Lewis' "Hello Stranger."
