Despite an unhealthy name, this UK folk group had a lively commercial sound. Like many bands of the period they grew from dances and halls into a concert setting. Bass player Andrew King was an excellent songwriter, his numbers predominantly sombre and serious. His fellow members lightened the tone with a touch of good time, alcoholic bonhomie.
