This vocal quintet was formed in Brooklyn, New York, USA, in 1958 by 15-year-olds Joe ‘Cookie’ Lorello (lead), Fred Mastanduno (first tenor), Ralph Minichino (baritone), Lou Moshella (bass) and John Mahlan (second tenor). ‘The Bells Of Rosa Rita’ was released on Mercury Records in November 1959 but did not sell well and the group disbanded. However, they soon re-formed when Joe Mertens and Diane Salemme replaced Mahlan and Minichino. ‘In The Aisle’/‘Hey Senorita’ was released in 1961, but by that point the band was again breaking up. The Admirations played a series of reunion gigs in 1974 in New York, but this was not a permanent return.
