Tenplatini's story originated in September of 1996 as each individual member was brought together from their love of '90s Brit-pop. Initially calling themselves Curtis, the quartet of Laurent Dedieu (vocals/ guitar), Patrick (drums), Sam (guitar), and Jerome (bass) would eventually relocate to London a year after their formation. Leaving behind their original bassist, the remaining trio would eventually change their name to Tenplatini while spending most of their time looking for a replacement. Once their friend Roshan temporarily filled in on the four string in April of 1998, the quartet finally played their first show in London six months following the recruitment. By January of 1999, Tenplatini debuted their first EP entitled Celebrate The Monkey with their own funding.
