Hailing from Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland, this Gaelic folk band was formed in 2004 by Lynsey MacRitchie (piano, fiddle, djembe), Michelle Morrison (vocals, piano), Catriona Watt (vocals, fiddle, whistle) and Judie Morrison (clarsach, fiddle, vocals). All the members met while studying at the Nicolson Institute in Stornoway, the main town on the remote Lewis. The quartet made the usual round of appearances at ceilidhs and local folk clubs, and also played at the Hebridean Celtic Festival and the Celtic Connections concert at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall. Their recording debut, Làn Tighe Chaileagan (A House Full Of Lasses), completed before the quartet departed to further their musical education on the mainland, was released by the Foot Stompin’ label in 2006.
