Philadelphia singer Tarra Scotton is the leader of the gospel outfit Tarra Scotton & Strong Tower, which also includes members Eric Greene Jr. (drums), Norwood Long (six-string bass), keyboardists Irvin Washington and Reggie Rice, plus three backup singers -- Darla Logan, Caryn Ross, and Tanesha Smith. Since the late '80s, Scotton has sung professionally with such choirs as Jehova Chosen, West Philadelphia Community Choir, and James Bellamy & the TC Gospel Ensemble, among others. Scotton has been collaborating musically with Greene since they were children, when they discovered each other's love of music and Christianity. In the summer of 2000, Greene (who also goes by the nickname "Booty") helped put together Strong Tower (which comes from the Bible passage "The name of the Lord is a Strong Tower"), which lead to playing shows with such acclaimed Philadelphia-based gospel groups as Minister Barry Devine & True Worship, the Ferbee Sisters, and John Payton. 2001 saw the release of Tarra Scotton & Strong Tower's debut recording, I Wanna Thank You, on the Zopro label.
