b. 17 August 1942, Wallasey, Lancashire, England. After Wump And His Werbles, lead singer Steve Day (b. Rodney Pont) formed the rock ā€˜nā€™ roll band, Steve Day And The Drifters, to play in Liverpool clubs. In 1963, as the Merseybeat boom was breaking, he perversely took a job in a country club in Devon. Day then worked in London with the Black Jays and returned to Liverpool to front Steve Day And The Kinsmen, by which time it was too late. He renamed himself Rod McKenzie, became a comedian and won the television talent show, Opportunity Knocks, in 1979. He is currently working as radio disc jockey in Portugal.
