Esoteric solo project inaugurated by Toby Jenkins (b. Bristol, Avon, England) of UK folk/electronic crossover duo Fort Lauderdale. Eschewing the studio trickery of his work with Steve Webster in the aforementioned act, the Squire Of Somerton saw Jenkins celebrating his love of the electric guitar and declaring that ‘the god of my everything is rock’. Jenkins made his album debut as the Squire Of Somerton with Transverberations, released in 2002 on the Memphis Industries label. Blending freewheeling freak rock and glam pastiche with Jenkins’ unhinged falsetto vocals, the album fashioned a compelling home studio tribute to the legacy of Jimi Hendrix, T. Rex and Roxy Music.
