Southern California pop/punkers Slutmagnet emerged in the late '90s as serious contenders for the San Diego punk throne. Their wild stage antics and outrageous, but listenable music made a strong impact with fans of similar acts (blink-182, NOFX, etc.) that were garnering huge record sales at the time. After forming in the mid-'90s, Slutmagnet (consisting of Matt Magnet on lead vocals and guitars, Andy Orgazm on drums, Felipe Durt on guitars, and Toby Wagon on bass) soon self-released their one and only disc, Just Kill Me, on their Trinkets for Me record label. The punchy, surprisingly decent-sounding record made the rounds in the punk underground, getting attention well outside the group's California stomping grounds. Slutmagnet couldn't maintain much momentum and failed to issue another recording, effectively ending their brief punk career. Just about as obscure as punk gets, this group probably deserved a little more attention than they received.
