Upon their formation in 1997, Jay Hopper (guitar/vocals), Mike Breen (guitar), Benson Wright (drums), and Brad Quinn (bass) have been otherwise known as Rockets to Mars to their native of Cincinnati, OH. Inspired by the likes of the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and Big Star, the Rockets to Mars take on a power pop cue that's been compared to the likes of Hüsker Dü and Matthew Sweet. Eventually capturing this sound on their debut CD-single Among the Stars, released through Lunch Records in 1999; the album Underneath the Half-Light followed two years later.
