The San Francisco-based improvisation collective known as rhBand keep their identities to themselves, although it's assumed that the folks behind the similarly anonymous Drunken Fish label are involved. Their releases are collective improvisations on largely homemade stringed instruments processed through a large guitar store's worth of effects pedals, delay units, tone generators, and other toys, recorded live and released with minimal mixing and no overdubs. Their first release was the 7" EP 4.5.96, followed by 1997's Third Order Parasitism, and 1998's First Tone, all on Drunken Fish. A chaotic on-stage performance was released as 6.20.98 on the Klang Industries label in 1999.
