b. USA. Paul Tremaine And His Orchestra were a dance band formed in the late 20s in New York City, New York, USA. Sidemen with the band included Sonny Dunham, Archie Newell, Arnold Lehner, Jay Wade, L. Hussin, Cliff Harkness, John Baldwin, Andy Fonder, Jack Triphagen, Charles Bagby, Eddie Kilanoski, Lester Cruman, Merlyn Shields, Eddie Orlando, Laurie Mitchinton and brother Bob Tremaine. Many of the musicians would double up on their instruments and also join choruses to produce a highly accessible and fluid musical style. The group remained active in the 30s and, after a brief period of retirement, the 40s. At no time however, did they win the major ballroom or hotel engagements, despite recording contracts with Victor and Columbia Records.
