Born and raised in Cuba but later settled in Mexico, Niurka Curbelo became involved in popular music with the release of her debut album called Quiero Vivir. But even before that, she had started singing and playing guitar at the age of eight and composed for the first time soon after. In 2001, Niurka returned with Todo Podria Cambiar, produced by Nacho Mañó. The album combined rock and different Latin rhythms such as salsa and flamenco and featured "Juro," which was recorded along with Spanish pop band Presuntos Implicados.
