US heavy metal band New World was formed in February 1992 by guitarist Mike Polak, who completed the line-up with the addition of seasoned musicians Martin Koprax (vocals), Bernd Fuxa (bass) and Thomas Fend (drums). Polak had been featured on Mike Varney’s ‘Guitar On The Edge’ series and taught at the American Institute Of Music, Europe’s biggest rock school, from where Fend was also drawn. An eight-track demo, The World We Created, sold out quickly on the underground rock network, and as a consequence, New World landed a contract with Rock The Nation Records. Their influences, ranging from jazz and classical to more conventional rock sources, saw comparisons to Dream Theater when their debut album was released in 1994.
