This short-lived group, aka Wooden Frog, was formed in January 1969 from the remnants of Traffic. Ex-members Dave Mason (guitar/vocals), Jim Capaldi (drums/vocals) and Chris Wood (saxophone) were joined by organist Mick Weaver, who had previously enjoyed a solo career under the pseudonym Wynder K. Frog. The new quartet lasted a mere three months, completing a handful of live dates and a radio session before disintegrating. Despite their potential, the group was overshadowed by Traffic’s powerful legacy, and lacked the focus its former leader, Steve Winwood, provided. Mason and Weaver then resumed their independent solo pursuits while Capaldi and Wood reverted to session work before re-convening Traffic.
