Glamorgan, Wales' curiously misspelled Mammath was a very obscure heavy metal ensemble formed in 1984 by vocalist Tony Robson, guitarists James Rees and Bob Philips, bassist Paul Kelly, and drummer Kerry Loveluck. Too late to tag along with the fading New Wave of British Heavy Metal craze, the group nevertheless wound up on noted independent Neat Records; but their only single release, "Rock Me" (b/w "Rough'n'Ready"), proved far too nondescript and poorly recorded to do their knack for hot guitar solos, anthemic choruses, and commercial metal aspirations any justice. Not surprisingly, Mammath's first shot at stardom was ultimately their last, and its musicians had already scattered to the winds by 1985.
