The pianist/organist/accordionist Luís Loy organized his first group in 1960, Luís Loy e seu Conjunto, which performed on TV's Tupi and Excelsior and at Mar del Plata, Argentina, having recorded in 1961 the album Luís Loy e sua Juventude Musical. Hired by TV Record in 1965, the group performed at the historic show O Fino da Bossa first as Luís Loy Trio and then as Luís Loy Quinteto. Accompanying major artists on most programs of that outing, the Luís Loy Quinteto recorded in the next year the historic album Dois na Bossa no. 2, with Elis Regina and Jair Rodrigues, and the group's first solo album, Luís Loy Quinteto. As Luís Loy e seu Conjunto, the group recorded in 1969 the LP Balanço Pra Frente, released in the U.S. in 1970.
