b. 1937, Texas, USA. Ken Copeland placed one single, ‘Pledge Of Love’, at number 12 in the Billboard chart in 1957, before resurfacing in the late 60s as a successful evangelist. Copeland was leading his band, the Minits, in Gainesville, Texas, USA, when approached by a small record label owner to make some recordings. The group’s first single failed but the second, ‘Pledge Of Love’, was a local success, and was picked up by the national Imperial Records label. Although first pressings of the record credited the Minits, the hit version went out solely under Copeland’s name. His subsequent recordings failed and in 1968 he established the Kenneth Copeland Ministries in Fort Worth, Texas. His television broadcasts, gospel recordings and even a magazine are said to have millions of followers in the USA.
