Jolie Edwards, the lead singer for Jolie & the Wanted, is from Omaha, NE. She always loved music as a child and loved to sing, though she was painfully shy at first. That was something she managed to outgrow. Early on she started showcasing her impressive singing skills in talent shows. When she was still in her teens, she joined her first band, a rock band.
After Edwards was all grown up and had even settled happily into the role of wife and mother, she went back to her music, with a little lovingly delivered shove from her husband. They traveled to Nashville often and she finally recorded a few songs. The couple sent those songs out to different labels, hoping someone would like what they heard enough to give her a chance. Someone liked them enough and in 1999 James Stroud signed Edwards to Nashville's DreamWorks record label. Before long she began to form a band of her own. Guitarist Phil Symonds was the first pulled on board. Next came another guitarist, Jonathan Trebing, and keyboardist Steve King, and then drummer Andy Hull and bassist Ethan Pilzer finished out the band. In February of 2001, Jolie & the Wanted saw the release of its first album. The self-titled debut was recorded under the DreamWorks label.
