Not to be confused with the prolific bassist of the same name, John Simmons did some work for Chicago's fine Delmark label in the '60s. He is credited with liner notes on a Big Joe Williams album and a photograph on a Joseph Jarman side. If that combination seems worthy of a straitjacket, consider this definition of sanity offered by Roosevelt Sykes at a recording session for the same label: "I've got to be a nut to work for Bob Koester and Delmark records."
