b. 1911, St. Louis, Missouri, USA, d. 1947. A trumpet player much inspired by Louis Armstrong, Hamilton made his debut in 1931 with Chick Webb, and subsequently played with Cab Calloway, Sam Wooding, Teddy Hill and Fats Waller. With the last he can be heard on ‘You’re Letting The Grass Grow’ (1939), ‘Oh Frenchy’, ‘The Moon Is Low’, ‘You Run Your Mouth And I’ll Run My Business’ (1940) and ‘Chant Of The Groove’.
