John Anderson and associates launched the Rocket Brothers out of their native turf of Northern Michigan. The style is basic rock & roll, described in band publicity as "raw", leading to the assumption that in Northern Michigan that would mean it had been frozen first, at least in the winter. The group had been playing in area bars, festivals, fairs, concerts and basements since 1988, and released a debut self-titled recording in 2000. This drummer John Anderson is not the same John Anderson that worked with Alice Cooper in the early '80s, and also is no relation to the Kansas City drummer of the same name who was a member of Boys Life and toured with Lullaby for the Working Class.
