While most AOR artists stand or fall by the ability of their vocalist to present the genre’s emotional melodrama with conviction and empathy, that was not the case with California, USA group Hyts. While there was nothing amiss with vocalist Roland Little’s delivery, the contributions of Stan Miller (bass), Tommy Thompson (keyboards/guitar) and Roy Garcia (drums) were less effective in animating his lovelorn lyrics. Following a self-titled debut collection for Gold Mountain Records, the group moved to A&M Records in 1985 for the improved Looking From The Outside. Despite this, Hyts faded from view as competition to gain space on the all-important AOR airwaves defeated them.
