Artist Biography

Led by namesake Mitch Hellfield on drums and vocals, Hellfield additionally comprised Rick Lamb (keyboards), David Hovey (guitar), James Larsen (bass) and Bill Smyth (drums). A US rock group of the late 70s, their two albums for Epic Records revealed an earnest approach to songwriting and musical construction, evidently influenced by Bruce Springsteen. Though Hellfield’s lyrical maturity set them apart from many of their hard rock peers, the group had little else to distinguish them and by the turn of the 80s had returned to the club circuit.
