Heidi and Stef Sigfalk met each other in 1989 and began performing together in 1990. 2001 finds them working both as a duo and with their Celtic group, Bow Triplets. Heidi began her musical career in Germany with classical violin studies and has played professionally in ensembles and orchestras since her twenties. She also teaches violin and performs folk-style fiddling with Bow Triplets.
Stef Sigfalk, a folk guitarist and songwriter, was born in Sweden, though he was first introduced to Celtic music at age 18, while busking in New Zealand folk clubs with Irish and Scottish friends. 30 years later, he was still performing Celtic music, with his own personal infusion of Swedish and New Zealand influences. The album Irish Connection, with Bow Triplets, was released in 1996. It contained primarily traditional Irish instrumentals and ballads. It was followed by Never Too Early, released in 2000, which contains more of Sigfalk's own original songs, as well as additional favorites from Irish traditional music. Bow Triplets is based out of Basadingen, Switzerland, and is best known internationally as a studio recording group, however, they perform to sold out audiences in their homeland. Then, as a duo, Heidi and Stef Sigfalk have also performed Celtic music in Switzerland, as well as Germany, Sweden, France, and Italy.
While the supporting lineup for Bow Triplets changes from project to project, in the past the group has included Andreas Aeppli on percussion, as well as Hannes Moos and Katrin Ruchti-Fehr on recorder; the members for the 2000 release of Never Too Early are Heidi Sigfalk on violin, viola, guitar, spoons, and vocals; Stef Sigfalk with guitars, mandolin, banjo, concertina, bodhran, and vocals; Joe Eisenburger on acoustic bass, plus vocals; and Markus Meier, bringing in woodwinds.
