In 1987 Glenn Hoddle (b. 27 October 1957, Hayes Middlesex, England; vocals) and Chris Waddle (b. 14 December 1960, Heworth, England; vocals) were two of the highest paid football stars in England. They had represented their country in the sport and regularly turned out for the First Division football club, Tottenham Hotspur. Both decided to take time off from the football pitch by recording ‘Diamond Lights’ which against the odds managed to reach the UK Top 20 in 1987. To cash in on the surprise success the duo quickly recorded and released a follow up, ‘It’s Goodbye’, but this time the record failed to sell, and they wisely returned to their day jobs.
